Brad is a character in The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
In the film, he is portrayed by Johnny Simmons.
Personality
Brad is a bully, jock and is the quarter-back on the schools football team, the Devils. He is king of/friends with the bullies. He is not the nicest person, but cares very much about Charlie. He is gay but doesn't think anyone knows, though almost everyone knows. Brad lives with his father. Brad beat up Patrick when Brad’s friends tripped him on purpose. He uses a gay pejorative against Patrick to mask his feelings for him, and is ashamed of himself.
Relationships
Patrick
Brad and Patrick originally fooled around at parties but -Brad would get high or wasted every time to avoid people knowing about him being gay. After awhile he kept getting drunk or stoned until his dad took him to rehabilitation. He continued to date Patrick until his dad caught them making out. Brad then got screamed at and beaten by his abusive dad and screamed for Patrick to get out, leaving both devastated. He also dated a girl to cover up his sexuality because he was ashamed of people knowing that he's gay. Steven Chbosky commented that Brad would "love Patrick until the day that he dies". Brad comes to terms with the fact that he is gay and continues to date Patrick.
Family
Not much is known about Brad's family, only that his dad is against homosexuality. Because of this, Brad reacts by keeping his sexuality a secret from his family and friends and fools around with Patrick in secret.
